Every year, thousands of Chinese come to work on construction sites in Algeria, living in isolated desert bases. Some die without being repatriated. Based on eyewitness accounts, rumors and fake news, Marcel Mrejen constructs a dystopian parable about the endless (neo)colonial exploitation of Algerian territory.
